About Our Client
Our client is a technology company operating in the transportation sector, providing digital products and solutions to clients worldwide. With over 20 years of operation and a strong global brand name, the company is well known in the transportation industry. They are currently seeking to enhance their in-house legal team by adding a specialised counsel with expertise in technology and data protection.
Job Description
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements with third-party technology providers.
- Advise the business units on commercial law topics associated with third-party technology providers.
- Manage disputes over and advise on enforcement of agreed Service Level Agreements with third-party technology providers.
- Engage and manage relationships with external counsel, both locally and internationally on areas of responsibility.
- Identify applicable requirements, negotiate and draft data processing agreement with third-party technology providers.
- Perform data protection impact assessments and transfer impact assessments as may be required under the data protection laws applicable to the personal data processing activities undertaken by the company.
- Ensure that appropriate data security requirements and controls are effectively negotiated into the contracts with third-party suppliers.
- Monitor data protection law requirements and developments in key jurisdictions of corporate clients.
The Successful Applicant
- Degree in Law and admitted to the Singapore Bar with at least 3PQE with private practice and/or in-house experience.
- Experience with negotiating commercial contracts with technology companies.
- Experience managing data protection topics under the PDPA, and ideally under GDPR and other laws of major jurisdictions.
- Experience working in international environments and communicating effectively with international clients and suppliers of various cultural backgrounds.
- Takes initiative and self-motivated, works cohesively in a team.
- Handles uncertainty effectively and is biased to take the lead to resolve uncertainties in commercial negotiations.
- Highly organized and able to effectively run in parallel multiple negotiations and topics.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Charming but effective and firm negotiator.
- Willingness to travel.
