The Global Biomass & LNG Business Platform is a rapidly growing sector of the company with staff in Asia, Europe, and North America.


WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE

Description As a LNG Originator, you will report to the Head of Asia Pacific LNG Trading and Short Term Origination and based in Singapore. The main role of the LNG Originator is to assist the Global LNG Business Platform in developing the growth and profitability in APAC region in the short and medium term.


You will be expected to engage effectively with assigned market counterparts and with traders and originators, in-country commercial teams,LNG deal structurersand analysts, LNG operations andshipping, as well as in-house legal, credit, and other functions


Role:

  • Identify, evaluate and execute LNG business opportunities
  • Optimise the utilisation of LNG assets including supply contracts, shipping and market access rights.
  • Ensure market and supply commitments are met in the most effective way.
  • Assistance on trading activities, including physical, shipping and paper related activities
  • Enhance risk management of existing and planned LNG positions.
  • Capture trading value added through continuation and development of the merchant trade.
  • Effectively integrate both downstream and upstream sectors of the Gas Value chain to maximise group value.
  • He/she is responsible for establishing and implementing physical LNG origination strategies on the short-medium term horizon. This includes marketing existing positions and create new merchant positions. Subject to the specific mandate, he/she also responsible for the execution of contracts relating to short-term and mid-term trading activity carried out by the LNG trading and portfolio teams.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Creating new sensible business opportunities
  • Screening of assigned markets in Asia for potential opportunities for short and mid -term sales and purchases. Develop and manage relationships with counterparties in those same countries. Make Key Terms proposals, progress buyers and sellers to detailed contract negotiations
  • Promoting the Global LNG Business access to spot and short-term LNG trading opportunities through negotiation, conclusion and implementation of MTAs and CNs, and ongoing management of MTAs.
  • Delivering commercial terms and secure binding commitments (prices, flexibility, shipping etc).
  • Acting as contract manager for executed SPAs as are assigned.
  • Ensuring understanding and adherence to the policies, trading compliance policies and standards, and to its Code of Conduct.
  • Supporting the LNG trading and portfolio teams in making offers or bids in the spot and mid-term markets, including participation in tenders.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor degree or higher, Business, Accounting, Finance preferred.
  • Knowledge of LNG industry to engage with LNG counterparts and develop deals among a range of counterparts in Asia
  • Experienced in commodity and other relevant markets, including compliance with financial services legislation and regulations
  • Proven track record of success in customer origination/structured activities in the energy market

  • Ability to understand risk and identify contractual mitigations, judging the trade-off between risk and return
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Asian cultures and business practices

Language competency:

  • Fluent English is essential for the role as that is the primary language for all business matters in the APAC region
  • Proficiency in Japanese (as the role will be required to communicate with counterparties in Japan . Knowledge of Japanese is essential)
