Position Overview:

KampungKakis is seeking a purpose-driven and entrepreneurial Executive Director to lead the organisation in achieving its objective of alleviating social isolation among seniors in Singapore. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing operations, fundraising, fostering partnerships, and ensuring the overall success and sustainability of the organisation.


About Your Role and Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans in alignment with the KampungKakis' mission, vision, and values. Align with the Board and lead the team (staff and volunteers) towards achieving short and long-term objectives.
  2. Operational Management & Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient program delivery, managing resources effectively, and maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements governing Charities in Singapore. This includes but are not limited to:
  • Core operations: Kakis screening, matching, check-ins, triaging of senior’s needs/requests with external resources if needed.
  • Ancillary programs: These are complementary services that support the immediate needs of our seniors, such as our Medical Escort program and Grocery Pack program.
  • Outreach programs: Programs designed to raise awareness and galvanise members of the public to become KampungKakis to isolated seniors, or reach out to more isolated seniors.
  • Product/Platform management: Provide strategic input and quality assessment of tech developments, working closely with the product/tech team to develop new features and dashboards that supports KampungKaki’s goals.
  1. Fundraising and Financial Management: Develop fundraising strategies, cultivate relationships with donors, seek grant opportunities, and manage the organisation's budget and exepenses to ensure financial stability and sustainability.
  2. Partnership Development: Establish and nurture partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, other non-profits, community organisations, and businesses to expand the organisation's reach and impact.
  3. Team Management and Growth: Provide leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers, fostering a positive work culture, promoting professional development, and ensuring effective teamwork.
  4. Advocacy and Public Relations: Represent KampungKakis in public forums, advocate for issues related to senior isolation, and effectively communicate the organisation's mission and impact to stakeholders and the public.
  5. Evaluation and Reporting: Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness, prepare reports and communicate the impactfulness of KampungKakis’ work for stakeholders and the Board, including annual reporting and audit. Use data-driven insights to improve KampungKakis’ strategies and operations.

  • Visionary Leadership: Ability to articulate a compelling vision of a resilient and self-sustaining network of KampungKakis where no senior is left behind, inspiring the team and stakeholders towards a shared mission. Proven experience in providing leadership, strategic planning, and team management.
  • Effective and Influential Communicator: You are impactful, concise and tactful in both written and spoken communication. You have experience leading teams and stakeholders.
  • Fundraising and Financial Acumen: Experience with fundraising and/or grant writing. Good understanding of financial accounting and governance to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Partnership Building: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, community and corporate leaders and volunteers.
  • Adaptability and Creativity: Capacity to adapt to changing environments, think innovatively, and implement creative solutions to address challenges.

We’re extremely lucky if you also:

  • Have direct experience working with seniors, especially in a social setting
  • Have a deep understanding of eldercare, community work or governmental landscape
  • Have technical skills (product management or coding) and are excited about leveraging technology to amplify the impact/scale of our work
  • Bring with you a network of donors, philanthropists or corporate sponsors.
  • Are savvy with developing marketing strategies and campaigns
  • Have a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as non-profit management, social work, business administration, or a related discipline
