Job Description:
As a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Physician, you will specialize in providing holistic healthcare services rooted in TCM principles to diagnose, treat, and prevent various medical conditions and promote overall well-being. Your primary responsibilities include:
1. Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health history, symptoms, pulse, tongue, and palpation according to TCM diagnostic methods to identify patterns of disharmony and imbalance.
2. Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Formulate accurate TCM diagnoses based on the identified patterns of disharmony and develop individualized treatment plans using a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, lifestyle modifications, and mind-body practices.
3. Acupuncture Therapy: Administer acupuncture treatments to stimulate specific acupuncture points along meridians to regulate Qi flow, balance Yin and Yang, and restore harmony within the body, targeting symptoms and underlying causes of illness or disease.
4. Herbal Medicine Prescription: Prescribe customized herbal formulas or supplements tailored to patients' TCM diagnoses and individual constitutions to address imbalances, support organ function, and promote healing and wellness.
5. Dietary Therapy: Offer dietary guidance and recommendations based on TCM principles, including food energetics, seasonal considerations, and constitutional types, to support digestive health, nourish the body, and prevent or manage health conditions.
6. Lifestyle Counseling: Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques, sleep hygiene practices, and exercise regimens to promote balance, harmony, and resilience in daily life, complementing TCM treatments.
7. Mind-Body Practices: Integrate mind-body practices such as Qigong, Tai Chi, meditation, and breathwork into patients' wellness plans to cultivate mindfulness, relaxation, and emotional well-being, fostering a deeper connection between mind, body, and spirit.
8. Health Education: Educate patients about the principles of TCM, the interconnectedness of the body's systems, and the importance of preventive healthcare measures to empower them to take an active role in maintaining their well-being and preventing illness.
9. Continual Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor patients' progress, track changes in symptoms, pulse, and tongue appearance, and adjust treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes and support long-term health maintenance and disease prevention.
10. Collaboration and Referrals: Collaborate with other healthcare providers, such as Western medical doctors, physical therapists, and mental health professionals, as needed, and make appropriate referrals to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for patients.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, or Oriental medicine from an accredited institution.
- Licensure or certification as a TCM physician or acupuncturist in the state or country of practice.
- Clinical experience in providing TCM healthcare services, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, lifestyle counseling, and mind-body practices.
- Strong knowledge of TCM theory, diagnostic methods, acupuncture point selection, herbal formula prescribing, and dietary principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills to establish rapport with patients, educate them about TCM principles, and support behavior change.
