Job Description
- Day-to-day responsibilities may include obtaining, processing, and analysing raster and vector datasets as input for various natural hazards models.
- Hands-on experience with all of the following: DEM data analysis, database management, digitization, georeferencing, multispectral data analysis, statistical data analysis, and geoprocessing workflows using arcpy or ModelBuilder
- Proficiency in quantitative analysis of both vector and raster datasets using ArcGIS and/or QGIS applications
The Successful Applicant
- Master's degree in Earth Sciences, Geography, or a related field + 2 years of professional experience OR Bachelor's degree + 4 years of professional experience in a GIS field
- Proficiency in one or more high level programming languages to automate workflows, such as Python, R, C++, C#, or MATLAB
- Exposure to open-source tools and libraries (GDAL/OGR, rasterio, shapely, PostGIS, numpy, scipy, pandas, etc.)
- Experience with predictive analytics and machine learning
- Detail oriented with a strong background applying geospatial analysis in the environmental sciences
