Job Description

As Project Manager, Government Affairs, the candidate will advance and achieve APACMed’s policy objectives in Asia Pacific by developing and executing advocacy initiatives and providing ongoing analysis of country policy updates on localisation, ESG, and related topics.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the candidate will serve as project lead for selected Government Affairs workstreams in Asia Pacific markets. This position reports to Head, Government Affairs.


Responsibilities:


Committee Agenda and Workstream Leadership:

  • Support the Govt Affairs committee’s agenda and lead designated workstreams under the committee’s purview.
  • Work with the Head of Govt Affairs to develop comprehensive project scopes, define objectives and strategize plans for effective execution.

Advocacy and Policy Development:

  • Support advocacy related to local and international regulations affecting the medical devices and diagnostics industry in Asia Pacific markets.
  • Develop well-informed policy options for consideration by APACMed members.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on proposed policies.

Relationship Building:

  • Foster and maintain key relationships with internal association members, policymakers, embassies, chambers of commerce, local industry associations, NGOs, policy advisors, WHO, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with these stakeholders to align interests and support APACMed priorities.

Resource Material Development:

  • Assist in drafting policy advocacy communications, webinars, press releases, and white papers.
  • Ensure that materials are clear, concise, and aligned with the organization's messaging and goals.

Event Organization:

  • Plan and execute workshops, educational events, and engagements on priority policy topics.
  • Manage all aspects of event organization, including selecting discussion topics, securing speakers, managing sponsors, handling logistics, and developing marketing collaterals.
  • Create post-event reports that highlight recommendations and key takeaways for continuous improvement.

Industry Trends Monitoring:

  • Stay updated on key industry trends and emerging issues in the medical devices and diagnostics sector.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to gather relevant data and insights.
  • Analyze policy issues and assess their potential impact on the industry.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent analytical, organisational and negotiation skills
  • Strong ability to synthesis, interpret and present data and insights for different audiences
  • Strong project management skills
  • Outstanding oral, written and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of healthcare and/or medical technology industry
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex policy issues and their analysis to various stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of professional experience in a field related to government policy/advocacy or healthcare policy, public health, ESG.
  • Advanced degree in public policy, public health, health economics, law or other relevant discipline required
  • Experience in a regional role in Asia Pacific and experience in the medical technology industry is advantageous
