We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated medical entomologist to further expand and strengthen the vector-borne disease research programme at the Environmental Health Institute (EHI). The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of scientists that focuses on vector biology, surveillance, and management. You will design and lead multi-disciplinary research and risk assessments related to insecticide resistance management and novel vector control technology. Your work will oversee laboratory functions that maintain multiple strains of mosquitoes for insecticide assessment, and develop control strategies to guide and inform operations, resource planning, and policy.
You are required to apply advanced concepts, methods, procedures, and technologies related to vector surveillance and control, and will be expected to publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The successful candidate will be working closely with the industry, international and local scientific experts. Excellent communication (written and oral), leadership skills and sound judgement are required.
The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Medical Entomology or related disciplines
- Excellent knowledge and experience of mosquito bionomics, insecticide resistance and management
- A record of high-quality scientific research, demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, will be an advantage
- Experience in leading a vector control/laboratory/research programme, including managing and developing a team of researchers, will be an advantage
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple priorities concurrently
- Self-driven and open to development opportunities
