Reporting to the Head, you will provide therapy intervention such as exercise program, modalities treatment and supervision to (cancer) rehabilitation clients who are undergoing rehabilitation in our Cancer Rehabilitation Centre and affiliated community gyms operated by SCS’ partners. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to manage the rehabilitation journey of (cancer) patients and survivors who enrolled with SCS cancer rehabilitation services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deployed in SCS cancer rehabilitation or partner gyms in the community to provide the following to assigned clients enrolled in cancer rehab services:
- Organize, develop, support, and deliver inclusive and sustainable cancer exercise program for cancer patients. These patients may have a range of medical conditions impacting both physical and mental health
- Continued guidance on exercises and use of exercise equipment, optimize benefits and prevent injury
- Monitor and assess client’s functional status
- Offer information, advice, and guidance to individuals on exercise and physical activity issues particularly in relation to people with long term cancer treatment side effects or those requiring additional support/ motivation to exercise.
- Conduct group exercise or relevant sports activities to enhance and maintain fitness and wellbeing of clients
- Work closely with therapists to provide feedback on client’s progress and receive instructions on interventions.
- Assist Head in planning and executing appropriate Sport SG and other SCS initiatives.
- Develop relevant patient education materials for cancer patients
- Participate in outreaching activities such as World Cancer Day, or cancer exercise related domains such as research
- To ensure all administration, inventory, monitoring, and evaluation is completed fully and accurately within deadlines
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Healthcare related or equivalent
- Certification as Exercise Physiologist with a relevant organisation(s) (e.g. ACSM, ESSA, CSEP) will be useful
- Good coaching skills to guide clients on exercise programmes
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Able to effectively and empathetically listen, interact and communicate with patients and families from varied backgrounds
- Excellent verbal skills and good written skills required
- Important to be able to work independently and effectively with clinicians, colleagues and other stakeholders in delivering optimal patient care and services
- A creative problem solver, is adaptable and flexible in adjusting treatment plans when needed and finding alternative ways to help patients
- Experience in working with cancer patients would be an advantage*
