Position Summary

The role of the M&A Associate will be to assist as part of the M&A team and the Partners to further develop and grow the Singapore practice.

You should have strong academic credentials as well as an aptitude for navigating the complex and fast-evolving regulatory landscape. An independent self-starter, you will use your astute judgement proactively to anticipate client needs, and contribute to the success of multiple projects.


Both pragmatic and a quick learner, you will manage multiple workstreams for both internal projects as well as client matters.

Our Practice Area

Our Corporate and Private Equity practice is a highly integrated, multi-disciplinary group of lawyers who know how to get deals done.

Our team advises global and Asia-Pacific-based private equity sponsors, financial investors and their portfolio companies, as well as select private and public companies, on complex, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, including leveraged buy-outs, bolt-on and carve-out acquisitions, joint ventures, structured investments, take-private deals and other public company transactions in Asia-Pacific and worldwide.


As an associate in our practice, you will be working in an exciting working environment, handling challenging, time-sensitive deals that demand a dynamic approach and a resilience of character. From the moment you join, you can expect to be working with – and learning from – partners within our team, as well as with colleagues in groups across the firm.


Duties and Accountabilities[1]

· Ensuring that our client’s interests are properly represented and protected at all times

· Advising on Mergers and Acquisitions transactions

· Drafting and negotiating legal documents

· Conducting and supporting on legal research

· Perform business development activities, liaising with relevant groups and clients


Qualifications

  • Newly qualified - PQE 1 with relevant post-graduate legal experience working at a peer international firm
  • Demonstrate technical excellence and be commercially aware
  • Experience in complex cross border transactions
  • Experience advising on Infrastructure M&A deals
  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker
  • Ability to see the big picture
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects
