The National Institute of Education (NIE) invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract for the LIFE@NIE Assessment and Evaluation Strategic Growth Area (AE SGA).
Project Title: Assessment and Evaluation
Project Introduction: Literacy in assessment and evaluation is crucial to educators in making informed decisions about teaching and learning. Through the assessment and evaluation processes, educators collect and analyse evidence on student learning against pre-defined standards and how a programme or initiative affects the intended or unintended outcomes of learning. NIE aims to develop new knowledge, expertise, collaborations and thought leadership in the areas of assessment and evaluation through education, research and outreach programmes and initiatives. This project will be conducted as part of the LIFE@NIE SG®️ initiative that was introduced in 2020 to strengthen NIE’s capability and capacity to lead the future of education over the next decade.
Requirements:
NIE is seeking a dynamic and motivated research assistant to support the development and execution of research and strategic initiatives of the Assessment and Evaluation SGA team.
Responsibilities:
To support the Chairperson of the LIFE@NIE AE SGA and the co-Heads of the NIE Centre for Assessment and Evaluation (CAE) to coordinate various research, teaching and outreach activities and work related to the development of the AE SGA. These include:
- Conducting literature review and proposals related to the field of assessment and evaluation.
- Contribute to the preparation of grants and reports for the SGA’s research projects, management and development.
- Articulate research gaps and future research focal areas in Assessment and Evaluation.
- Organize and conduct events, workshops, seminars and colloquiums with internal and external stakeholders, field experts and representatives from schools and organisations relevant to the SGA.
- Maintain and promote communication with relevant stakeholders that promote SGA works.
- Provide secretarial support for the SGA taskforce, such coordination and notetaking of meetings and other relevant documentation.
- Regular updating and design of publicity resources and guides.
- Any other administrative duties as assigned by the SGA.
- Ensure projects and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's (preferably Master’s) degree in Education/Psychology/Sociology, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience in an educational environment would be an advantage.
