Job Summary:
Repairs manual and automatic transmissions in motor vehicles within manufacturer quality and time standards.
Job Description:
- Performs transmission repair of motor vehicles as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, following company time allowance and standard
- Removes and disassembles transmission unit and performs repair
- Diagnoses cause of malfunction
- Installs repaired transmission replaces fluids, and makes appropriate adjustments
- Performs technical service and repair of motor vehicles including troubleshooting using diagnostic equipment
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts, etc.)
- Examines the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
- Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
- Liaise with Customer Service Advisor on the service/repairs-related matters
- Advises Customer Service Advisors immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be made
- Provide support to Customer Service Advisors and Sales Staff
- Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts
- Saves and tags parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer
- Document the work performed and recommended on the repair order
- Perform quality checks and road tests on vehicles
- Maintain facilities and equipment of the workshop
- Any other or ad-hoc assignments by the immediate supervisor
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Nitec in Automotive Technology or its equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in motor vehicle transmission repairs and replacements
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of motor vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Ability to handle various tools
- Proven experience as an automotive mechanic
