Role Description
This role is focused on supporting clients in ESG program development, data collection, ratings remediation, policies and reporting. With demonstrable experience working in the ESG field, you will have a key role developing and delivering our work on ESG indices, ratings and frameworks.
As an ESG Consultant, you will work on collaborative teams to help deliver a range of projects for clients, including sustainability reporting and integrated annual reporting, ESG portfolio and supply chain risk assessment, and ESG strategy development. You will also have opportunities to contribute to projects focused on human rights, climate change and geopolitical issues.
As an ESG Consultant you will take responsibility for the planning, implementation and delivery of projects. You will work closely with client teams, building strong relationships characterised by high levels of trust. You will also be required to work closely with all members of the team, to achieve company, team and project objectives. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for this role.
Job Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities are likely to include:
- Developing reporting concepts, structure, key messaging and overall content for reports.
- Developing and delivering materiality assessments to inform report content.
- Engaging with client reporting teams.
- Deliver client projects, with a focus on supporting clients with their ESG indices, ratings submissions.
- Collating, calculating and analysing client ESG data.
- Conducting interviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conducting primary research and consolidating data from Corporate Sustainability Reports (CSRs), ESG frameworks, and rating systems.
- Researching markets and industries for ESG peer benchmarking, data mining, and chart building.
- Creating client specific content that is innovative and original.
- Supporting team members on client project deliverables.
- Coordinate multiple projects, ensuring milestones and action items are met within agreed timelines and there is clear communication with clients.
- Managing budgets, schedules and resources.
- Keep abreast of ESG landscape including regulatory requirements and best practices
Qualifications
Key knowledge and experience
- At least five years of relevant professional experience, ideally encompassing consulting and/or client-side ESG experience.
- Excellent communications skills across oral, written and slide deck formats.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to handle large datasets.
- Good project management skills.
- Strong working knowledge of best practice sustainability standards and frameworks (such as the GRI Standards, SASB, TCFD, UNGC, SDGs, UNGPs, IFC PS, FTSE 4 Good, IIRC, etc.).
- Good understanding of current and emerging sustainability-related regulatory requirements (such as human rights due diligence, climate change risk management, etc).
- Demonstrable business, consulting or other relevant experience in CSR/sustainability OR in social project delivery or assessment
- Excellent communication skills – ability to engage confidently with clients and explain complex information
- Proven track record of business development success (if previously held consulting roles).
