The Machine Learning team is responsible for delivering tangibly intelligent devices across all current and future product categories at Dyson.
Working alongside researchers, engineers, and designers, we blend cutting-edge machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques with an in-depth understanding of biomedical imaging, inventing novel solutions to 'impossible' problems.
Utilising the latest biomedical imaging systems and computational biology techniques to conduct rigorous qualitative and quantitative experiments and trials, you will play a pivotal role to enable core functionality in products that most can’t imagine.
About the role
- Lead and inspire a team of scientists and research engineers to conduct research, to develop impactful intelligent technologies, and to translate results into prototypes with clearly defined specifications.
- Evaluate, customise, and benchmark image processing and machine learning methods for the analysis of biomedical imaging data.
- Act as subject matter expert in machine learning and data science.
- Define project objectives and plans in collaboration with other Dyson upstream and downstream teams and senior stakeholders and lead your team to deliver against targets.
- Perform investigatory analysis of data, applying statistical methods to establish confidence in findings.
- Design and develop clean, documented, and easy to maintain code. Integrate software builds with other teams where appropriate.
- Produce reports and give presentations summarising progress against team and project goals, effectively and engagingly presenting complex technical information and analysis to senior and executive level management in a clear and comprehensive way.
- Work independently to manage tasks with competing priorities, including prioritising the resource of direct and indirect reports.
- Collaborate with academic and industrial partners to leverage externally available expertise, managing the relationship where appropriate.
- Generation of novel intellectual property.
About you
- Doctoral degree or similar experience in Biomedical-/Imaging with significant industrial experience.
- Expert in the application of algorithms for image segmentation/detection and image analysis on biomedical data sets, particularly when operating on noisy or incomplete data.
- Demonstrable experience of data analysis and statistical methods would be desirable
- Expert knowledge of the development and implementation of machine learning algorithms. MLOps experience desirable
- Experience in translating complex biological problems into machine learning and statistical problems, and computational models.
- Feature extraction, time series analysis, signal processing, and statistical modelling.
- Ability to produce robust proof-of-concept code in appropriate languages, for example Python; C++; or Matlab.
- Enthusiasm to learn and share new methods and techniques within several areas of technical expertise. A similar passion for biology and physiology would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams.
- Passionate about the technical and personal development of direct and indirect reports.
