DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conceptualize, design, and implement stunning visual effects for in-game assets, including characters and environments in a Unity engine / Spine tool.
- Collaborate with the game design and development teams to ensure VFX align with the overall artistic vision and gameplay mechanics.
- Work with the art team to define a consistent style for VFX and to ensure the quality of the assets for all aspects of the project.
- Leverage animation principles to create dynamic and fluid motion in VFX, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
- Optimize VFX assets for mobile platforms to ensure smooth performance and minimal impact on device resources.
- Prepare assets to integrate into the Unity game engine.
- Provide creative and innovative solutions to technical art problems and/or restrictions.
- Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in mobile game VFX, animation techniques, and technology to enhance the overall quality of the game.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
- BA in art media, graphic design or equivalent relevant experience
- Relevant experience of 4+ yrs
- Working experience with Spine, Photoshop, Unity Game engine and particle editors, as well as After Effects or similar programs for pre-visualizing VFX
- An understanding of Unity3D’s pipeline
- Understand FX workflows and tools with the ability to modify and improve them
- Ability to create original texture sprites and sprite sheets to create particle effects
- Able to keep content relevant to the current projects art style and work within those limitations
- Be a team player: we use agile development methods, where the team members are in permanent contact.
- An open mind and good communication skills are a must
- Ability to accept feedback, and responds to criticism positively
- Be enthusiastic and expect to take on challenges
- Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change. High degree of self-motivation and initiative
- Experience with traditional 2D animated VFX
- Experience or knowledge of repository tools (Git, SVN…)
- Ability to write scripts and actions to create VFX
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Passion for games and some knowledge of the games industry
