Summary: The Engineering Assistant (Facilities & Maintenance) is responsible for equipment maintenance and performance improvement activities in the Standard BioTools Singapore Pte. Ltd. Manufacturing site, in support of the site's business goals and objectives. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment, collaboration with engineering and production, high level of initiative and willingness to understudy and handle a diverse range of equipment in the site. The scope covers all operations including facilities from Store through manufacturing to Shipping.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilities and Equipment Repair, Preventive Maintenance and Calibration:
- Daily equipment check list, Daily Management (DM) meeting, and go Gemba.
- Respond promptly with a sense of urgency to provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production. Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and optimise equipment operating parameters.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment per PM/CAL schedule and update records.
- Take initiative to drive continuous improvements and implement corrective action and preventive action to prevent recurrence of critical problems.
- Manage critical spares and equipment list through stock control, requisitioning and inventory control.
- Review frequency of equipment downtime and identify opportunity for improvements.
- To carry out the facilities Plant Room Routine maintenance and to plan facilities operation and maintenance program.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC systems, CDA Compressor and other building components to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Conduct “Gemba Walk” inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and promptly address any issues or concerns.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance or repair work as needed.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in the implementation of facility improvement projects, including renovations, upgrades, and installations.
New Process and Equipment:
- Support installation and buy-off of new facilities equipment and production equipment (IQ and OQ).
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance facilities activities, including work performed, materials used, and any relevant documentation.
- Review trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement of equipment up time performance.
- Initiate and execute improvement projects in equipment set-up, repairs, maintenance, and preventive maintenance (to achieve improved uptimes, cost, cycle time, yield, productivity, output, quality and to meet safety & health requirements).
Compliance to Quality System
- Support the implementation of quality system.
- Identify and rectify any procedure discrepancies and specification deviations.
- Accurate and complete record keeping and procedure update.
- Effective execution and record keeping of stipulated process controls and quality checks (preventive maintenance and calibration)
Tools and Fixtures
- Initiate new orders, design improvements, repair, support needs for new requirements and manufacturing run-rate increase.
Housekeeping and Safety
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Responsible for good housekeeping and safety of maintenance work area. Assist manufacturing in equipment and work area housekeeping such as organization of cables, pipes, and maintaining good equipment conditions. Good housekeeping after repair or task is completed.

Qualifications Include:
- NTC or Diploma or equivalent course in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Willing to learn and ability to acquire multi-skills set to handle different processes & tasks.
- Hardworking and possess high level of initiative and self-motivated.
- Willing to work in a cleanroom environment & on rotating shifts.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Hands-on with experience in equipment troubleshooting & repairs.
- Must be able to read schematics and complex drawings/diagrams.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
- At least 4 years relevant experience in the semiconductor wafer fab or assembly industry
