Singapore Bus Academy (SGBA) is an anchor initiative of the Public Bus Industry Manpower Plan. It is an important tripartite initiative in support of LTA’s vision for a land transport system that is smarter, safer, more responsive and optimised to meet demand. The SGBA is a centralised academy that offers enhanced training to the public bus sector workforce for certification, licensing as well as for continuous training and deepening of skills.
As Assistant Director, SGBA, you will:
- Manage the academy (on behalf of LTA) for public bus sector workforce to offer enhanced training through foundational and refresher courses to steer training requirements, set quality and standards to uphold standards and skills relevancy of the public bus and rail workforce;
- Define training requirements through regular and close consultation with the management of LTA, PTOs and training providers to shape future workforce of the public bus sector as the sector undergoes digital transformation including electrification with roll out of eBus, in line with Singapore Green Plan 2030.
- Engage PTOs to plan training schedules to meet industry and/or certification training requirements while maintaining public transport’s operational needs;
- Work closely with LTA counterparts to maintain financial system within the centre, manage budget and cost control of training, administrate fund and revenues on behalf of LTA;
- Manage a team of staff to ensure smooth and efficient running of the training centres, effective administrative and delivery of training and assessments, as well as to conduct regular reviews on quality of training administration and centre operations for continuous improvements;
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders including but not limited to LTA, PTOs, training providers and Union;
- Other roles include:
- ensuring timely reports on finance and training matters to LTA;
- steering activities of the training centre and ensuring efficient utilisation of all training resources, facilities and equipment/asset;
- organising the annual Singapore BusTech and RailTech Grand Challenge;
- working with industry stakeholders to outreach to local jobseekers to join the public transport sector.
Requirements:
- Degree in any discipline or have held managerial position in prior job role(s)
- 3 years and above in a mid management role
- Possess strong conceptual and analytical thinking
- Highly motivated team leader with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Possess excellent communication skills for effective engagement at all levels
