Workshop Planner

The Workshop Planner is responsible for ensuring that projects are kept on track by producing reports and using project management tools to keep all other teams involved in the project on track in repair facility. The planning and scheduling assignments are relatively complex and involve collaboration with diverse business entities. The position requires a highly motivated candidate with a strategic and analytical mindset.


Job Description

  • To schedule and submit repair timeline for all equipment in the workshop and to ensure that all work orders meet delivery dates.
  • To provide repair schedule and updates to customers.
  • To coordinate with Repair Procurement and Production Planning and Control Analyst on delivery dates for repair items and spares parts to meet repair schedule.
  • To update and submit weekly progress reports to customers.
  • Monitor daily activities within required departments to ensure projects meet established schedule.
  • Identify potential improvement opportunities within applicable systems and assist relevant departments on improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with all NOV Company policies and procedures established by Quality Management System, HSE, as well as all other Corporate guidelines.
  • Utilize advanced planning and scheduling software and, enterprise resource planning system to generate effective schedules and long-term plans to meet project deadlines.
  • Estimate practical and accurate lead time for new orders.
  • Evaluate work order routing data, material commitments and outside vendor processing PO data on regular basis to ensure the data integrity and work with respective parties to resolve data discrepancies when discovered.
  • Routinely monitor ‘scheduled’ versus ‘actual’ data for labor and material transactions to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Continuously monitor resource and operator capacity, and provide recommendations to management such as the need for overtime allocation, new machine purchase etc.
  • Communicate with project responsible routinely to avoid unexpected delays.
  • Recommend feasible solutions when shop entities fail to follow target schedules.
  • Attend production meetings to confirm that planning and scheduling information is up to date.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum requirement: National ITE Certification and above.
  • Preferably work in a manufacturing plant or Repair workshop before.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Sound knowledge of job shop planning and scheduling concepts, capacity planning and lean manufacturing.
  • Flexible availability (overtime and weekends may be required) preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficient with computer and MS Office.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and functional inter-relationships.
  • Knowledge of any advanced planning and scheduling (APS) software is highly desired.
