Location : International Business Park
Position : Scientist (Food Science Rapid Response Dept/National Centre for Food Science)
Contract period : Immediate (6 + 5 months)
Working hours : M-F
Duties:
• Work on two projects utilizing aseptic microbiological procedures to revive and cultivate bacterial strains into passages for stock culture preservation and as controls for evaluation and development of assays.
• Assist in preparing selective culture media (broth/agar plate) and confirming the media’s quality, performance, and sterility, etc.
• Assist with bacterial strain identification and testing in accordance with SOPs using techniques such as biochemical testing, DNA extraction, PCR, etc.
• Compile and document the bacterial cultures inventory to ensure in compliance with the laboratory quality assurance procedures.
• Carry out related administrative and lab duties as assigned by supervisor to maximize laboratory efficiency.

Qualifications
• Degree holder with background in Biological Science, Microbiology, Molecular biology or any other relevant Science disciplines. (Budget approximately up to $25/hr, negotiable depending on candidates’ experience)
• Candidates with relevant job experience will have an advantage.

• Must be meticulous, proactive inclination to problem-solving and able to contribute beyond the technical training provided.
• Possess the ownership, aptitude, and agility to excel on the assigned project /task.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Computer literacy.
