Job Summary:
The Orbital Lead oversees and manages the orbital welding operations within a manufacturing or engineering environment. This role involves supervising a team of welders, ensuring compliance with welding procedures, maintaining equipment, and meeting production goals while upholding quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of orbital welders, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and high-quality welding operations.
- Monitor welding processes to ensure compliance with industry standards, quality specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee maintenance schedules for orbital welding machines and ensure they are in optimal working condition.
- Ensure adherence to established welding procedures and protocols, making necessary adjustments for efficiency and quality improvements.
- Identify and resolve issues related to welding processes, equipment malfunctions, or material defects.
- Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including inspection reports, equipment maintenance logs, and procedural updates.
- Enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the welding team, conducting regular safety audits and addressing potential hazards.
- Liaise with other departments such as engineering, production, and quality assurance to coordinate workflows and address welding-related requirements.
- Provide suggestions on the machine setting and operational's instructions for further improvement
Requirements:
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications or vocational training may be considered.
- Several years of experience in orbital welding operations, with a proven track record of supervisory or leadership roles.
- Proficiency in orbital welding techniques, equipment operation, and understanding of metallurgy and welding principles.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills to effectively lead and motivate a team of welders.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and the ability to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities to identify and address welding-related issues promptly and effectively.
