Summary

The role involves strategically managing finance matters across the Asia Pacific, working closely with the Regional Finance Controller and Country Finance Controllers/Managers. The responsibilities include coordinating financial planning/budgeting and analysis and overseeing working capital, treasury, and taxation. The individual in this role acts as a controller and business partner to the country finance team and other stakeholders. It is an individual contributor role where finance matters are handled locally by the country's finance team. The Asia Pacific region comprises 12 countries.


Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to manage working capital and treasury for countries across the Asia Pacific region. This includes ensuring that countries meet their accounts receivable past due KPIs and make efficient use of cash.

The following are the essential tasks that the role entails:

  • Conduct weekly conference calls with focus stations to review the status of their receivables and ensure that their past-due accounts are within an acceptable range.
  • Manage credit terms and amounts to ensure they are in place and adhered to. This involves overseeing bad debt provisions and write-offs in line with company policy.
  • Develop strong relationships with our corporate banks.
  • Regularly review balance sheet reconciliations across Asia Pacific countries, including reviewing accruals.
  • Participate in monthly performance reviews, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Plan and execute process improvements to improve efficiency and strengthen controls. This includes conducting regular internal audits to ensure proper vendor management.
  • Participate in tax matters, such as transfer pricing, tax inquiries/audits, etc. Actively engage with our tax consultants across countries.
  • Other duties may include implementing the Travel & Entertainment system, building the Air RFQ annual bidding calculator, and expanding the office.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • A degree in Accounting/Finance or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in finance, with at least 2-3 years of exposure in handling regions or multiple countries.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and remotely manage country finance teams and other country leadership teams.
  • Must be willing to engage in all aspects of finance/accounting while the company grows.
  • Proven success in driving down past-due amounts and DSO figures.
  • Excellent communication skills, dealing with multiple countries, regional, and corporate management layers.
  • Ability to adapt to challenges that come from rapid growth.
  • Experience in internal control and internal check systems relative to credit and collections.
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding and customs brokerage is a plus.
  • ACCA or Certified Public Accountant certification is a plus.
