About Our Client
Our client is a globally renowned brand in the retail industry offering popular footwear choices that provide comfort and durability, making it suitable for various activities both indoors and outdoors. The team is looking for a Legal Counsel to join the Legal team for Asia region and act as a strong business partner to business on all legal and compliance matters. This is a newly established headcount within the legal team for Asia region.
Job Description
- Advise various legal function aspects such as corporate governance, leasing, collaborations, social media, digital platforms, commercial contracts, employment law, and product liability within a diverse regional scope.
- Create, assess, and negotiate a broad spectrum of legal, commercial, and corporate documents and agreements.
- Evaluate the company's rights and obligations within existing commercial and corporate contracts.
- Coordinate and conduct research on various legal matters.
- Collaborate with external legal advisors regarding litigation issues.
- Manage internal compliance tasks related to data protection, safety, labelling, etc.
- Advise management on statutory and regulatory matters with potential legal and commercial ramifications.
- Provide insightful legal guidance to mitigate risks and liabilities across the Asia region.
The Successful Applicant
- A law degree with at least 2PQE, including one year as an in-house legal counsel with a reputable corporation.
- Proficiency in commercial law and contract negotiation.
- Possess commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach to legal practice.
- Ability to think creatively and devise solutions to encountered challenges.
- Collaborative team player with the capability to work with senior management and peers.
- Familiarity with contract law in key Asian jurisdictions is beneficial.
- Demonstrated strengths in analysis, communication, drafting, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel on short notice within the region.
