Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.
SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public and future generations through exhibitions and programmes. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Biennale Office is responsible of the project management and coordination of the Singapore Biennale. The team works with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project deliverables. As a Biennale Executive, you will support the Biennale Office in all aspects of project management and coordination, especially in corporate and administrative matters. The scope may be expanded to include curatorial and exhibition operations. The desired commitment period is until August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning and project management of the Biennale inclusive project schedule, budget, management reports and other related work processes for successful project implementation.
- Support the execution of the marketing plan inclusive of managing the Biennale's digital presence (website, social media accounts, and public enquiries), as well as develop and produce creative content.
- Coordinate travel and hospitality arrangements for the appointed artists.
- Assist in the preparation and assessment of vendor quotations and tenders.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and assist in the periodic updates to management and funders as well as the final audit reporting at end of the Biennale.
- Review and keep up with current trends and best practices that may have an impact on exhibition/project planning, logistics and museum management issues.
- Handle ad-hoc assignments as and when required.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in the field of contemporary arts and project management. Working experience in large-scale festivals and events will be an advantage.
- Must demonstrate knowledge in and passion for contemporary art.
- Must be able to work independently and be a good team player.
- Must be able to manage several deadlines simultaneously.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Have a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility.
- Proficient in spoken and written English. Strong interpersonal and communications skills to work with people at all levels will be an advantage.
- Proactive and resourceful, willingness to be on the move and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Basic working knowledge on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, social media and content management. Video and photography skills are an advantage.
