As a Senior Professional Officer or Lead Professional Officer , you play a key role in enabling applied learning and industry innovation in the University.You will mentor and facilitate student learning to enhance their technical problem-solving skills and increase their preparedness for industry. You will have the opportunity to participate in and manage innovation projects or research activities in collaboration with academic staff and industry partners. You will help design, set up and manage laboratories to ensure that resources are in place to facilitate learning and innovation.
The responsibilities of this role are:
- Mentor students during practical learning activities to enhance their technical problem-solving skills. The learning activities may be laboratory classes, projects or IWSP. Development of learning activities and assessment of students may form part of the responsibilities.
- Support research and industrial project work undertaken by the university to promote applied learning and applied research efforts.
- Work with the faculty in designing, planning and the continuous development of the laboratory facilities designated for teaching and research activities in the area. Provide training to students on safe and proper usage of laboratory equipment.
- Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
- Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
- Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- For those hired at senior levels, management responsibilities and additional administrative roles may be included.
- Collaborate with industry in innovation projects to enhance clinical care innovation and productivity.
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
- Possess clinical experience and competence in physiotherapy. Having expertise in community rehabilitation or other area of specialization (e.g. cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, neurological physiotherapy, geriatric rehabilitation) is preferred.
- Have at least 10 - 15 years of work experience in the acute/ community/ other clinical rehabilitation setting.
- Have a degree from a recognised University in Physiotherapy. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous.
- AHPC Certified
- Knowledge and experience in working with simulated healthcare institution and community environment and educational manikins will be advantageous.
