Senior Assistant Manager, Business Operations Management

This position holder supports the Deputy Dean and College Management of Nanyang Business School (NBS) to lead the School’s overall External Relations stakeholder engagement strategies and initiatives. He or she will drive engagement events/activities to raise the visibility of the College as the nexus for innovation, research and business education, both locally and internationally.

The responsibilities include:

External Relations Engagement and Partnership Development

  • Promote and elevate the awareness of College of Business/Nanyang Business School (NBS) as a premier business school in a leading technological university, involved in world-class innovation, research, and business education.
  • Spearhead and execute appropriate strategies to advance the College’s external relations agenda
  • Cultivate partnerships for the College for a wide spectrum of initiatives for teaching and research.
  • Identify new opportunities for external engagement, partnerships and collaborations.
  • Formulate action plans for establishing relations and forging partnerships with industry.
  • Drive integrated and coordinated external relations programmes and activities across units within the College.
  • Support networking at relevant industry/research forums and business meetings.
  • Act as the primary administrative contact for external engagements and corporate partners.

Event Management and Operations

  • Develop and implement comprehensive event plans, considering objectives, timelines, and budgets for partner events and collaborative initiatives with industry.
  • Lead and coordinate with various teams within the College (college-level) and NTU (school-level) and external vendors to effectively plan and execute partner events and engagement activities
  • Select suitable event venues and negotiate contracts to achieve cost-effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with NTU Events Office for selected events.
  • Manage and host visits to the College by external parties, visitors and guests.
  • Manage the College’s external relations budget which includes budget planning and accounts management to ensure adherence to guidelines and policies.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality. Track expenses, reconcile invoices, and provide regular financial updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and strategies for events. Utilising various channels to increase event visibility and attendance.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and assess the success of each event, preparing relevant reports for management where applicable.
  • Streamline work processes and workflows (where applicable) to enhance the Dept’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Support to leadership and strategy development

  • Take the lead, in consultation with the College Management, in strategising, strengthening and establishing industry links and partnership engagements.
  • Support the formulation of the College’s external relations strategies and related implementation plans.
  • Support College management in building relationships with local, regional, and international partners.

Requirements

  • Degree from a recognized university
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in events management and partnership engagement
  • Able to connect with people at all levels, establish and maintain a network of relationships and partnerships
  • Experienced in developing and managing partnerships and stakeholder engagements
  • Digitally savvy, with experience in managing in-person, virtual and hybrid events; and engaging online communities
  • Resourceful and driven, with the ability to think strategically, creatively and analytically
  • Good team player, with excellent presentation and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with good liaison and networking skills
  • Able to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Adaptable and detail-oriented with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Able to work as a team; and independently to meet tight deadlines
  • Highly service-centric and customer-oriented
