Responsible to work closely with the operational welding team, develop welding procedure specification, procedure qualification record, welder qualification test, provide technical support to sales for tenders and production to improve the productivity and quality. Work scope covers all OMS locations.
- Handle and review specifications for tenders and quotations
- Liaise and resolve technical enquiries and issues pertaining to the project with clients
- Calculate the consumption of filler material and provide overall cost estimation for welding based on project specifications
- Develop and improve welding procedure specification with accordance of code and specification (WPS)
- Conduct welding procedure qualification test (WPQT)
- Conduct welder qualification test (WQT) with accordance of industrial code and specification
- Ensure that welders' performance is within the acceptable level / permissible repair rate and provide training to welders to improve their welding and cutting skills
- Create and improve weld design to prevent fatigue failure
- Design and develop welding preparations such as fillet welds and butt welds to improve welding quality and welding operation efficiency
- Prepare and review work instructions for welding operation. Provide guidance during welding operation, especially in cases of facing any difficulities and challenges
- Ensure the inspection and testing activities are conducted accordingly to WPS
- Review the Non-Destructive Testing specification and ensure the inspection is duly conducted
- Be involved and ensure that the welding machines are calibrated to the specifications
- Conduct root cause analysis for weld failures
- Review and provide corrective and preventive action for weld failures
- Ensure the parent material weld ability, identification, handling, storage and traceability are properly managed
- Ensure the filler material identification, handling, storage and traceablity are properly managed
- Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations
