The successful candidate would be required to:
- To assist the section manager in the implementation, review and improvement of yard’s Safety Management System to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
- Manage the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) activities to ensure that the organisation complies with external regulations and standards
- Monitor and evaluate the organisation’s overall HSE performance to identify any recurring problems; research, evaluate and recommend changes to technology, equipment, systems or processes that will improve the organisation’s HSE performance
- Keep up to date with proposed and actual changes in HSE regulations so that the organisation’s HSE policy remain current and relevant
- Recommend and formulate safety policies and procedures
- Provide assistance to work process with safety planning and incident prevention
- Evaluate and review sub-contractors safety program and procedure compliance
- Assist in the development and implementation of HSE training programmes, safety audits and safety evaluation process
- Be prompt and efficient in the handling of incident and accident investigation
- To maintain and complete HSE reports and documentation
- Stay abreast of latest HSE trends and best practices for implementation on site
The ideal candidate should preferably possess:
- At least 3 years of HSE experience in the marine industry and have proven experience of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
- A minimum Diploma or Degree in any Engineering disciplines while a Specialist in Workplace Safety and Health is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A keen eye for detail and an inquisitive mind to question and uncover truth
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications for management reports
