- The Technical Superintendent reports to the Technical Manager. The duties and responsibilities of the TS include, but not limited to the following:
- Assist TM in monitoring and ensuring that vessels meet technical, operational and maintenance requirements and procedures as given in the SMS.
- Ensuring that statutory and classification surveys are planned and carried out on time.
- Ensuring that repairs, defects and dry-docking are carried out in accordance with company’s and Class requirements.
- Investigate & report on vessel casualty as required include but not limited to such as investigating machinery failures and advising preventive measures.
- Briefing Masters and Chief Engineers and provides guidance to ships’ personnel on operations of ships and their equipment’s.
- Monitoring of stores & requisitions, and liaise with Purchasing Department to arrange supplies accordingly;
- Monitor Planned Maintenance System of vessel.
- Monitor Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) in the fleet.
- Conduct vessel inspection.
- Interviewing and recruiting suitable crew for employment on ships / shore.
Requirements:
- Candidate must be medically fit
- COC Class 1 or 2 (Engine) holders with sailing experience on Tankers
- Minimum 2-year experience as a Chief Engineer (C/E); or
- Minimum 1-year experience as a C/E and 2-year experience as a Second Engineer
- Candidate with Class 3 COC (Engine) or Maritime Engineering Related Degree/Diploma with appropriate experience in Marine Industry may be considered on case to case basis.
- Familiarity with vessel technical aspects, dry-docking/TMSA.
- Knowledge of Oil Majors / Class Societies / Statutory requirements.
- Dynamic and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Able to work irregular hours and travel within short notice
