Key Responsibilities:
- Advising on legal aspects of issues encountered by RGE as well as any of the business groups managed by RGE, across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advising and counselling key stakeholders.
- Advising on all aspects of general corporate law. Familiarity of corporate secretarial matters and procedures.
- Negotiating, drafting and reviewing all forms of contractual agreements, with 3rd parties as well as within the RGE managed business groups.
- Cross-functional and geographical legal engagement for critical projects.
- Supporting businesses managed by RGE, especially in strategic projects that require legal input.
- Advising on the application of RGE’s policies and procedures across the various business groups.
- Providing sound and timely legal advice to business units and business groups.
- Providing guidance on Compliance matters, including drafting, reviewing, and revising local compliance protocols.
- Preparing and delivering training / updates on key legal topics, policies and procedures.
- Developing and implementing processes to consistently analyze and mitigate legal risk whilst improving efficiency and consistency in contracting.
- Instruction, supervision, and management of outside counsel, including management of external counsel expenditure.
- Researching and analyzing on legal issues and laws, legislation, regulations and court decisions impacting the various businesses managed by RGE.
- Supporting the strategic direction of RGE and the RGE Corporate Legal Department on projects and initiatives that may be allocated from time to time.
Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success:
- At least 10 years of post-qualification legal experience, both within a law firm and in-house. Previous experience in an MNC or highly complex organisation would be advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage and support a variety of legal projects with a mixture of commercial/corporate work and advising on business initiatives.
- Demonstrate deep personal accountability for great performance, moving effectively between strategy and operational detail, staying focused on commercial priorities and critical business agenda.
- No sectoral or industry-specific experience required, but must have ability to quickly learn and pick up on the basics of the various businesses managed by RGE
- Able to work as an integral part of a global team, fostering teamwork and cultivating relationships, as well as ability to work independently and take the initiative where necessary.
- Focused on attention to detail and accuracy and have strong analytic/diagnostic skills.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills; experience of effective engagement at senior level, proven ability to work confidently and stand ground with senior managers at all levels.
