Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Chinese Language teacher to join an exciting team of educators in establishing the Invictus International School (Centrium)
The Role
The Chinese Language teacher will be accountable to the Head of Department (Chinese) in the following areas:
- Upholding the positive ethos and core values of the school.
- Assist the Head of Department in planning programmes for the school.
- Assist the Head of Department in developing and managing the Chinese Language curriculum.
- Develop and deliver pupil-centered learning activities.
- Plan curriculum, lesson plans and age-appropriate teaching materials for classes.
- Using assessment information to plan progression for the differing needs of learners in class.
- Demonstrate a high level of relevant curriculum knowledge and deliver lessons effectively.
- Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessments.
- Assist with integrating the technology available within the school into the Chinese Language curriculum.
- Communicating with parents regularly on learners’ progress and issues related to learning, where necessary.
- Liaising with the SENCo to support students with Specific Learning Difficulties.
- Assist with auditing, planning and purchasing of departmental resources.
In addition to the teacher role the successful candidate will also be expected to:
- Act as a form teacher and be involved in the pastoral life of the school.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of all students.
- Involve themselves fully in the life of the school and play an active part in the extracurricular programme.
- Take part in fieldtrips or excursions.
- Provide accurate feedback to parents via written reports and Parents’ Evenings.
- Be able to teacher other subjects as needed.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have:
- An evident passion for teaching and learning
- At least a qualification in Education/Teaching or equivalent, recognised by CPE/MOE in Singapore
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience in an international school
- A good understanding of Singapore MOE Chinese Language curriculum
- A love of Chinese Language and the ability to communicate this enthusiasm to the pupils
- The ability to create meaningful language opportunities for pupils
- A proven track record of teaching excellence and outstanding subject knowledge
- The ability to engage and inspire pupils of all abilities and backgrounds
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese languages
- Empathy for pupils, parents and fellow staff
- A generosity of spirit towards the demands of a busy and growing international school, as the role requires flexibility and adaptability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills in order to manage diverse commitments and deadlines
