The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Associate.
We are developing a smart robotic gripping system for vegetable harvesting in vertical farm environments. We're seeking a motivated Research Associate with expertise in mechanical design, building the embedded system, and control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a robust mechanical design for the gripping system, ensuring optimal functionality and durability.
- Construct and systematically maintain the robotic gripper.
- Design/implement control algorithm for the robotic gripper.
- Fine-tune gripper’s operational parameters to achieve optimal performance.
- Assist RF to prepare the project deliveries and milestones.
Job Requirement:
- Master’s degree in STEM, Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering is preferred.
- Experience in Python, SolidWorks/Inventor, Matlab.
- Hands on experience on building embedded system using Arduino/ESP32.
- Hands on experience with 3D printers (FDM, SLA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
