KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

We are looking for a Singapore-Based Academic Manager (full time). Working with an international team, the Academic Manager is responsible for Blue Sky Education’s overall academic activities in Singapore:

Overall Academic Matters

  • Develop new curriculum and improve existing curriculum
  • Recruit teachers and guest speakers
  • Coordinate programmes arrangements including briefing and training teachers and contractors
  • Ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively and meets the required standards
  • Collaborate with Operations Managers and Camp Managers to aid the smooth and effective running of the programmes
  • Speak to students, agents and students’ accompanying teachers about academic matters when necessary
  • Work with teachers to organise the testing, placement and induction of students where required
  • Time-tabling classes and allocating counsellors or relevant teaching staff to teach appropriate classes and levels
  • Effectively manage materials and resources
  • Carrying out lesson observation and feedback and end of course staff appraisals
  • Teaching as required to meet operational demands

Business Development Support

  • Support sales team with client meetings when academics discussions are requested by clients
  • Collaborate with sales team to design programmes to suit clients’ requirements
  • Host ad-hoc clients familiarisation (fam) trips in Singapore together with Operations Managers

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

  • English speaker
  • Bachelor degree holder
  • Teaching experience with young learners who are non-native speakers
  • A minimum of eight years’ teaching experience

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as Academic Manager at an international school or English language school or Tuition Centres
  • Young Learners teaching qualification
  • Educational management experience in a summer or residential setting
  • ESL teaching qualifications (TELSO, CELTA)
  • Experience of preparing students for exams especially the Cambridge/ IB suite and / or carrying out the administration for these exams.
