Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and execution of ambitious regulatory strategy; advising on a wide range of regulatory issues and helping the team expand into new markets across APAC by navigating the local regulatory frameworks.
- Prepare and provide primary support on all licensing and registration applications and approvals in existing and new markets, and supporting the building and maintenance of good working relationships with local regulators.
- Analyse and synthesise relevant laws and regulations against the business model and new products and features.
- Work with and advise teams on the application of payment, crypto and other regulations, helping them to manage regulatory risk while enabling to create products and expand internationally in a way that meets Company objectives.
- Continue to scan the horizon for APAC and international regulatory developments, and work proactively with the team to ensure stays one step ahead.
- Represent on a variety of topics before external advisors, banking partners, regulators and other external audiences, and advise on our regulatory positions.
- Be a proactive partner and trusted advisor to cross-functional teams.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law from a recognized institution.
- Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on corporate or commercial law.
- Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, particularly in the relevant industry (e.g., fintech, technology).
- Experience in managing legal risks and providing proactive legal advice to mitigate potential issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders and external parties.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with data protection laws and regulations is a plus.
