About The Opportunity
The CFO, Asia will function at both a strategic and operational level and will represent and be the voice of the Asian business from a finance perspective. Strategically the CFO will work in partnership with the Asia Taskforce team and the Regional MD of Asia to deliver on its long term goals and deliver sustainable profits for the business. Operationally, the role will be responsible for the financial health, planning, implementation, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations. This role carries a large responsibility supporting the execution of best practices, process and system improvements, risk management and compliance, cost savings and reporting of the business in and across Asia.
Asia is one of the 4 regions within FCTG including 6 equity markets (Japan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and India), 2 additional Hub markets (Philippines and Indonesia) and 8 partner countries. As one of the fastest growing regions globally and currently going through large scale optimization, the CFO will have meticulous attention to detail, strong leadership, and a focus on leading a high growth business that is going through transformation to maintain economies of scale. The CFO is key to delivering accountable growth in the business and plays a role of critical support in executing the long-term strategy while ensuring the integrity of the financial results and sponsoring key projects.
In addition to regional responsibilities, the role forms part of the Global finance leadership function and will be responsible for working with the Global CFO on the formation and regional execution of global finance strategy.
Key duties & responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational
- Work with Asia Taskforce Team, providing strategic and financial input
- Develop financial reporting appropriate to manage and pro-actively diagnose the business
- Continually review all aspects of the business to ensure profit maximization
- Assist with new business opportunities and commercial negotiations with potential suppliers
- Conduct area reviews with the Asia Taskforce Team to improve business performance
- Strong financial control of the operations including Legal and Risk Management
Financial Management & Business Acumen
- Deliver financial analysis rather than financial data and assist leaders with business planning process
- Set financial direction and ensure implementation of global finance strategies within Asia region
- Establish and monitor customer focused business models for finance
- Drive productivity and process improvement through appropriate business models
- Achieve finance costs savings & revenue opportunities through negotiations with external suppliers
- Focus on cost management and efficiency initiatives
- Responsible for the preparation of all management, financial and statutory reporting, including consolidated profit and loss, KPI, and other reports required for management or Board in accordance with Flight Centre Group Policies and International Accounting Standards
- Ensure all financial, legal and risk management and other relevant systems are followed and work with global specialist teams to achieve group objectives, including risk management, tax & treasury
- Drive, develop and standardize risk management processes, internal controls and audits.
Leadership
- Mentor and support Financial Directors on technical, operational, commercial and people issues
- Lead, support and uphold the Asia Finance team that is customer centric and upholds minimum standards as set by Global CFO and Flight Centre finance community
- Embed financial control as the foundation of finance’s responsibilities and culture
- Ensure there is a focus on developing strong future leaders
We’d love to hear from you if you have...
- CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualified
- At least 10 years’ relevant experience with leadership experience
- Strong commercial acumen and technical knowledge
- Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing business strategy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop relationships at all levels
- Proven leadership and teamwork skills in a multicultural environment
- Developing and implementing business models/processes in multi-site location
- Strong analytical skills with initiative to resolve issues or pursue business opportunities as they are identified
- Significant Project management experience
- Entrepreneurial initiative
- High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth and pressure
