Job Profile Summary - Research Associate
This role designs, plans and conducts biological experiments based on cell culture techniques and molecular biological analyses within the Biological Evaluation group of the Evonik Skin Institute. It also facilitates in vitro claim substantiation for new product developments and customer projects for the Personal Care market. The holder of this position supports in research of new methods and techniques to strengthen the testing portfolio of the Evonik Skin Institute.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design of experiments:
- Independent study of literature, based on this independent evaluation of cell culture studies with molecular biological analyses
- Independent research of technical literature to identify and introduce new protocols to improve existing processes and support new product development and customer projects
- Support of safety trainings together with the laboratory manager
Experimental procedure:
- Independent execution of cell culture studies with molecular biological analyses on the basis of very good knowledge of complex biological experimental procedures and molecular biological methods
- Independent development and optimization of new analysis methods
Experimental evaluation:
- Independent evaluation of cell culture studies with molecular biological analyses and conclusion for further studies
- Data analysis and data interpretation
- New cell culture method development based on the experience of existing ones
- Preparation of test reports for internal and external partners/customers in English
- Presentation of the results in technical meetings in English
- Complete and immediate documentation of the tests carried out and the results obtained in appropriate format
Additional:
- Assignment of project management tasks in product development and customer projects
- Support in communication with customers
- Collaboration with other departments and functions (Applied Innovation, Product Lines, Biotechnology Group)
- National and international assignments within the framework of projects
- Technical guidance of several laboratory employees
- Support in training courses and laboratory tours for internal and external customers
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor or preferably Master of Science in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or comparable
- 3-5 years professional experience preferably in the cosmetic market or skin research
- Special knowledge and experience in biological processes, especially in human skin, cell culture techniques, molecular biological methods, mathematical and statistical evaluation of biological data
- Safe handling of MS 365, esp. Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint
- Very good written and spoken English skills
- Strong communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team
- Independent way of working, flexibility
- Reliability and willingness to learn
