Responsible for preparing the snacks and meals of the children and have a love for children, nutritional knowledge and an enjoyment of cooking.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare meals, clean-up the kitchen and eating area, keep accurate records, make a shopping list, order or shop for needed food and kitchen items, help with the children, and be able to substitute if a staff member is absent.
Daily
- Prepare and serve of breakfast, lunch, and tea.
- Clean-up of the kitchen, utensils, meal dishes, tables and floors in the eating area.
- All appliances will be wiped off daily.
- Any trash and recyclable material will be removed from the kitchen at the end of the shift.
- The eating area and kitchen will have the floors swept and mopped after every meal.
Weekly
- Scrub all appliances and counters.
- Check, clean and organise the cupboards and drawers.
- Remove and throw left-overs from the refrigerator every Friday.
- Prepare a weekly shopping list for all necessary kitchen and food items.
- Order or physically purchase the kitchen and food items each week.
- Stock the kitchen and food items on the shelves in the appropriate area.
Monthly
- Clean the inside of the oven and the microwave.
- Wipe down the inside of the refrigerator.
- Defrost and wipe down the inside of the freezer.
- Create and write a monthly menu that will be distributed to the parents and posted on the wall.
Coverage for Cleaner
- To provide coverage of essential cleaning duties when the Centre Cleaner is on annual or medical leave.
