Position objective and summary
- The primary objective is to drive revenue and profitability by establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships, optimizing existing operations, and identifying new avenues for expansion. The role requires a keen understanding of the waste management industry, market trends, and the ability to develop and implement effective business strategies.
Main tasks / activities / responsibilities
Market Research and Analysis:
- Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients, industry trends, opportunities, and potential challenges in the waste management industry.
- Analyse competitors and market dynamics to inform strategic decision-making.
Business Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to acquire new clients and expand market share within the waste industry.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in target industries.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and other lead generation activities.
Client Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to understand their evolving needs and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Prospect and engage with potential clients to create new business opportunities.
Proposal and Contract Negotiation:
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet the specific needs of clients.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts with clients to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
- Work closely with legal and finance teams to finalize contract agreements in a timely manner.
Revenue Growth:
- Meet or exceed sales targets and revenue goals on a consistent basis.
- Continuously seek out opportunities to maximize revenue and profitability within existing client accounts.
Industry Networking:
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote our services and brand awareness.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of industry contacts to support business development efforts.
Job requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, preferably within the waste management or environmental services industry.
- Proven track record of successfully closing deals and achieving revenue targets.
- In-depth understanding of waste management regulations, technologies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with sustainability trends and circular economy principles.
- Proficient in written and spoken English. Additional language proficiency is advantageous.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to make strategic decisions and drive initiatives forward.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
