Brief Summary:
As a Staff Engineer at Edmund Optics Singapore (EOSG), your primary responsibility is to push the boundaries of our processes while leading and guiding engineers to enhance production activities. Constantly scanning the market for innovative processes and equipment, you ensure that EOSG meets and exceeds customer expectations. Collaborating closely with internal and external partners, you spearhead implementation projects to improve EOSG's manufacturing and metrology capabilities.
Job Description:
· Design, develop, configure and implement manufacturing and/or metrology processes which will optimize efficiencies, stabilize yield and enhance EO’s capabilities, from concept to pilot phase
· Recommend, acquire, implement and optimize new manufacturing and/or metrology equipment
· Propose and lead projects to enhance EO’s manufacturing and/or metrology capabilities overall, identifying risks utilizing tools such as DFMEA and PFMEA
· Define process monitoring plans and ensure consistent and efficient operation
· Provide timely support to the relevant teams on the running of processes through pilot phase and into production phase including training, troubleshooting and process monitoring
· Manage production engineers, provide training and guidance on continuous improvement projects as well as day to day problem solving
· Decision making and risk management on non-standard RFQ which include advice on development resources required to fulfill customer requirements or to take reasonable exceptions
· Liaise with RFQ team, Program Management, Sales and customers to identify gaps, align expectations and develop solutions for key customer accounts
· Coordinate with Operational Excellence initiatives to align continuous improvement activities in line with current development goals and requirements
· Provide support and guidance to engineers and technicians on resolving manufacturing issues
· Liaise with teams in IPQC and QA to ensure continuous quality improvement
· Attend internal and external trainings and lectures and publish articles in relevant media
· Cooperate with external partners to improve EO’s capabilities overall
Qualifications:
· MSc or PhD in a relevant Engineering or Scientific field.
· 8 or more years of optics fabrication experience and process engineering.
· 3 or more years of CNC programming and CNC setups, specifically of Aspherical Lenses.
· LEAN and Six Sigma knowledge/experience is a plus.
Required Skills & Abilities:
· Basic knowledge in Optical Fabrication, Optical Metrology, Optical Physics, Opto-Mechanical principles, and other technical areas within the Optical Industry.
· Experience with Design of Experiments and ANOVA testing.
· Effective communicator, both written and oral, with strong project leading skills.
· Solid team player with strong interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
· Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
· Highly self-driven with the ability to work independently.
