Job Scope:
- Conducting risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards in buildings, facilities, or processes.
- Implementing measures to prevent fires from occurring, such as proper storage of flammable materials, installation of fire detection systems, and enforcing fire safety regulations and codes.
- Designing and specifying fire protection systems including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, smoke control systems, and fire extinguishing systems.
- Reviewing building designs and construction plans to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and standards.
- Developing emergency evacuation plans and procedures, as well as training occupants on fire safety protocols.
- Conducting inspections and tests of fire protection systems to ensure they are functioning properly and meeting regulatory requirements.
- Investigating the causes of fires and recommending measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
- Providing expert advice to architects, engineers, builders, and property owners on fire safety measures and compliance with regulations.
Requirements:
- The FSEs must have at least 5 years of experience in the design, implementation, testing and commissioning of performance-based solutions for both new and existing developments.
- Typically, a Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, or a related field is required. Some positions may prefer or require a Master's degree for advanced roles.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective fire safety solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for conveying technical information to a variety of stakeholders, as well as for writing reports and documentation.
- Being meticulous and thorough in reviewing plans, conducting inspections, and analyzing data to ensure compliance and effectiveness of fire safety measures.
