Bloomberg Originals is seeking a seasoned, ambitious senior digital video producer to help grow the Asia-Pacific voice of the Bloomberg Originals' Short documentary team. We’re looking for a strong storyteller — someone who has a passion for journalism and a natural curiosity about business, politics, technology, culture, and lifestyle. You are a team player who is willing to review and assist other producers in everything from scripting, interviews, shooting, through edit. You help find best ways to craft and tell stories along with the studio’s development team and can take a video from pitch to publish. This role will report into the region’s Shorts production team leader
We’ll trust you to:
- Drive production execution on premium video content including explainer-style segments and short documentaries (conceptualization, storyboarding, outlining, production, edit & delivery) working with a variety of source footage and motion graphics
- Work in a fast-paced studio environment while juggling multiple active projects at once
- Build shot sheets, coordinate field production and receive the footage from shoots
- Gain an understanding of newsroom initiatives and use knowledge of those campaigns to bring fresh and unique story ideas to the table for short documentary and series development
- Run creative production meetings for greenlit pitches, series and campaigns alongside team leader
- Review publish copy attached to videos from web headlines/descriptions to social language.
- Maintain Bloomberg’s voice in all content, by providing feedback, editorial suggestions, copy editing scripts and tapping relevant stakeholders across the newsroom.
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in a news organization, digital publisher, or production company
- Proficient in video editing tools including but not limited to Adobe Premiere, Final Cut
- Experience in producing for digital video and short documentaries
- A refined sense of visual news and documentary storytelling and an ability to give fresh angles on them
- A love of video storytelling, the production experience and an understanding of global trends.
- Camera know-how and field shooting/producing experience
- Strong communication skills with exceptional English writing and script editing skills
- Attention to detail, news judgement and experience developing compelling editorial story ideas for video
- Collaborative team player with an ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours and travel
- Demonstrated continuous career growth in a role within an organisation
