Occupational Therapist, EIPIC (under Sun Ray Scheme)

We are current looking for Occupational Therapist our social service agency (SSA). The Agency works to empower persons with cerebral palsy or multiple disabilities to realise their full potential and lead fulfilled, dignified lives.

Job Description / Requirement

Early intervention Programmes for Infants & Children-(EIPIC)

a. Involve in individual and group activity programmes

b. Train and teachers / assistants in relevant basic techniques of occupational therapy to facilitate implementation in classroom setting

c. Liaise and teach parents in client handling skills to ensure and encourage continuity of occupational therapy programmes both at EIPIC Centre and home

d. Provide support and counselling to families of clients when required

e. Evaluate, prescribe and fabricate / purchase assistive devices as required by the clients to improve their functionalities.

f. Monitoring seating / positioning in the EIPIC centre and provide necessary recommendations

g. Plan for EIPIC clients along with EIPIC heads and OT- HOD to best integrate them to mainstream, work with teachers in regular school, parents

h. Pay school visit where the EIPIC clients are integrated, provide consultation to teachers in regular school for best integration

i. Adopt various approach for therapy for EIPIC clients and take the lead in discussing the approaches with other therapists in the department

j. Adopt and practice the Best Practice Guideline (BPG) for therapists.

Professional/Staff Development

a. Keep abreast of latest development in service delivery of occupational therapy related areas to ensure that therapy programmes are kept updated.

b. Conduct in-house training programmes for relevant staff, teachers, parents, caregivers, and volunteers in the organization.

c. Involve in research where possible, relevant to areas of occupational therapy service delivery.

d. Supervise daily routine of Occupational Therapy support staff

e. Provide on-the-job training to Occupational Therapy support staff

Critical core skills

• To be a good problem solver, decision maker, good collaborator.

• Facilitate conflict situations through appropriate balance of logic and emotions and oversee behaviours within teams to minimise conflict occurrences.

• Budgeting for specific programme

• Identify opportunities for transdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge transfer to facilitate the integration of knowledge from different disciplines

Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university recognized by Allied Health Professions Council, Singapore

2. Registered with AHPC

3. Excellent communication skills with good command of verbal and written English

4. Strong commitment and motivation to work with children, adults, and caregivers

5. Prior experience in SSA will be an added advantage

6. Proficient in Microsoft Words, Excel and PowerPoint

7. A team player with good organizational skills and able to multitask

Sun Ray Scheme

Sun Ray is a centralised scheme administered by NCSS to develop individuals who have strong leadership qualities to lead professional practices and agencies in the social service sector.

To enable a holistic development. there will be structured rotation across social service agencies in different sub-sectors to provide individuals with cross-organisational exposure and support. The exposure will enable those on the Sun Ray to develop broader sector perspectives and gain deep sector knowledge to help the social service agencies that they are deployed to build capabilities and capacity.
