Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat foot, ankle, and lower leg conditions and injuries.
- Conduct physical examinations, medical histories, and diagnostic tests related to foot health.
- Prescribe medication, orthotics, and therapeutic treatments for various foot ailments.
- Perform surgical procedures such as ingrown toenail removal, bunion correction, and foot reconstruction.
- Provide advice and education on proper foot care, footwear selection, and injury prevention.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists, to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Evaluate and monitor the progress of treatment plans, making adjustments as necessary.
- Address issues related to biomechanics, gait analysis, and sports-related injuries affecting the feet and ankles.
- Participate in continuing education to stay abreast of advancements in podiatric medicine and surgical techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Requirements
- A recognized Degree in Podiatry
- Registration with the relevant governing body of this profession, if applicable
