Job Description
The research is on transforming food waste into digestates containing active biomolecules to enhance vegetable growth. Utilizing anaerobic digestion, we aim to recover essential nutrients such as N, P and K from food waste and integrate them into waste-derived hydrogel/biochar for optimal vegetable cultivation, thereby closing the waste loop in farming practices.
The specific aims are:
- To release nutrients from food waste through anaerobic digestion and optimize the co-digestion process with waste-derived hydrogels.
- To recover nutrients from the digestate to produce a novel biofertilizer.
- To develop a prototype of an integrated food waste nutrient recovery system for pilot-scale testing.
Qualifications
- Possess a PhD degree in bioscience, chemical/ biological/ environmental engineering, or other related fields.
- Prepare reports and presentations regularly.
- Publications in the relevant work.
- Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
