JOB DESCRIPTION
The Regional Reinsurance Placement Senior Executive/ Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s day-to-day business development strategy in accordance with the business objectives and strategies approved by the Executive Management, which this role reports to;
- Chief Executive Officer - day to day operational affairs
RESPONSIBILITIES ;
- Develop strategic business partnerships with cedants, reinsurers and producing brokers in the SEA region (and beyond). Thorough understanding of the SEA Markets
- Design reinsurance placement programmes for clients’ needs, placing business with client-approved reinsurers to meet financial and operational key performance indicators
- Prepare submissions, obtain quotations and represent them to partners in the reinsurance market place
- Liaise with Clients and reinsurance markets for day-to-day account inquiries
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reinsurers’ capabilities (product lines, capacity, appetite, approvals and soft-issues)
- New Business development and renewal retention ; develop and participate in new/ renewal/ prospective presentations to clients and/ or reinsurers. Also to produce new clients and design programmes for them, establish relationship through meetings, exhibits professional skills, network and entertain in order to generate revenue
- Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual financial targets
- Liaise with the applicable Business Units/ Departments in Home Office to ensure the proper level of client service and timely flow of business process
- Participate in markets visits and business conferences
- Respond to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly
- Follow the Company’s procedures and compliance requirements, to ensure placement documentations are complete, eliminating any potential errors or omissions
- Establish and maintain strong relationship with reinsurers, clients and colleagues
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Bachelors Degree is required
Experience : five (5) to (10) years related (re)insurance experience with the ability to deal with complex facultative, treaty and/ or retrocession placement.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS (GENERAL & TECHNICAL).
- Thorough knowledge of (re)insurance concepts and terms/ conditions for developing and placing reinsurance programs, preparing placement slips including cover notes and drafting or amending new and existing contracts.
- Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good client, reinsurer and internal relationships
- Strong ability to prioritize workload according to volume and urgency
- Strong ability to find creative solutions to new problems, as they arise
- Strong ability to organize and attention to details
- Good understanding of computer skills, MS Office (Excel, Words, PowerPoint)
- Strong ability to maintain and adhere to regulatory compliance and relevant professional standards where applicable, as well as Company-wide quality initiatives. Must be able to address clients’ needs by accessing and organizing resources.
