Kinderstori is a Reggio-Emilia inspired playgroup working with children from all backgrounds, from 18 months old to 4 years old. We believe that children are young human beings learning and developing in reciprocity with peers, close adults and their community. We focus on the search for truth and beauty in everyday life. The role of the teacher in Reggio-Emilia schools is complex, multifaceted, and necessarily fluid, responsive to the changing times and needs of children, families and society.
Responsibilities of the role
- Planning of the overall curriculum programme to promote children’s development in all domains
- Preparing the environment suitable for exploration and learning with health and safety standards
- Interacting with children to promote learning through play and appropriate instruction
- Providing nurturance and guidance to children
- Observing children to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Documenting their learning progress and write reports to parents
- Organise snack time and perform basic housekeeping of the learning environment after class
- Educating parents and encouraging family involvement
- Engaging in advocacy to communicate the value of early education to outside audiences
- Close collaboration and regular feedback sessions with education team.
Qualifications and experience
- At least an Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education (ACECCE)
- Candidates should have some art background with a body of artworks
- At least 2 years of experience teaching and working with children
- Excellent communication skills and engaging personality
- Leadership ability to influence children and guide them in the right direction
- Bilingual in Mandarin and English
- Patient, energetic, mature, compassionate
