Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux/Unix server systems, including hardware, operating systems, and related software
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve any issues to ensure high availability and reliability
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as patch management, system updates, and performance tuning
- Collaborate with other IT teams to deploy and support applications on the Linux/Unix platform
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for systems and data
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-related incidents and service requests within defined SLAs
- Ensure adherence to security policies and implement necessary security measures to protect the UNIX infrastructure
- Create and maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to propose and implement improvements to the environment
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members as needed
To succeed in this role, you require at least five years' experience specialising in Linux/Unix.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience as a Linux/Unix Administrator, preferably in the financial sector
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Solaris)
- Well versed with Scripting and Automation (Ansible, Python, Bash)
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (VMware, KVM) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
- Experience with storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and backup solutions (Veritas NetBackup)
- Proficient in performance monitoring, tuning, and log analysis
- Solid understanding of security principles and best practices in a regulated environment
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and adapt to changing business needs
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
