About the Role
There is no denying of the power of data analytics in leading any business, including QSR, to unlocking growth. Through data, we can build strategies, optimise performance, maximise profit and achieve breakthroughs in establishing and strengthening any organization’s purpose and ambitions.
For KFC Asia Central, data has the power to transform the business in a big way, and the Data Product Owner will be responsible for partnering with our franchisees to enable meaningful data-driven insights that drive sustainable top-line and bottom-line growth. We have a growing data platform and many use cases in the pipeline to make a huge impact on the business.
As Data Product Owner, your focus will be on KFC Asia Central Franchise business region across 9 markets with the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Hong Kong as the key markets.
You will be based in Singapore and will require occasional travel to the franchisee markets and global conferences.
What Success Looks Like
You will enable the markets to realize their full potential through:
- Collaborating with our franchisees, global Yum! and KFC data & tech teams, and various third-party data providers and partners to grow a data platform that serves as a single source of truth for our business
- Architecting and managing the data across a variety of data sources across a variety of different markets
- Enabling clear and actionable insights through our business intelligence platform, and collaborating with internal and external partners on advanced analytics tools and use cases
- Building capability in data analytics across internal and franchisee teams through training and collaboration
MAKE A DIFFERENCE… with your role’s responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics, you will work closely with cross-functional teams of the KFC Asia Central Business Unit and with our franchise partners across the region on major projects including but not limited to:
1. Architecting and managing the KFC Asia Central data platform (60%)
- Architect and manage a data platform that balances the scalability of a global ecosystem with regional and local needs that drive commercial impact
- There will be significant collaboration with the global Yum! and KFC data and tech teams on planning, execution, and maintenance as there is a sizable shared Yum! tech team whom we can leverage
- Provide oversight and technical direction on the various data integrations and enhancements
- Build comprehensive governance across the data platform and clear documentation for technical and business users
- Ensure consistency in structure and logic across the different markets regionally
2. Enabling data access and insights through the business intelligence platform (30%)
- Build and evolve dashboards to ensure daily usage and actions by business teams
- Work closely with the commercial analytics managers and franchisee teams to scope out requirements, understand business logic, and drive usage
- Manage team of contractors to build and maintain dashboards, and collaborate with global Yum! and KFC teams on leveraging the appropriate data sources and logic
3. Building data capability internally and with franchisee teams (10%)
- Work closely with the Director of Data & Analytics, the Commercial Analytics Managers, and our franchisees to build data capabilities across the KFC Asia Central business unit and our local franchisees
- Provide a mix of workshops, regular reinforcements, and navigational support to enable business teams to be able to read, understand data, and make inferences effectively, while also ensuring the tools we provide are intuitive
BRING YOUR BEST SELF… with your top-notch qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or similar experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Services
- 10+ years of work experience with hands-on expertise in managing data warehouses and business intelligence platforms. Experience in AWS, Informatica, Snowflake, and Domo is highly regarded
- Expert level knowledge of data engineering and solution architecture, with hands-on experience in designing and developing scalable ETL solutions for enterprise data warehouse systems
- Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems around data infrastructure
- Ability to evaluate and make recommendations around data quality
- Expert level knowledge of business intelligence platforms, with hands-on experience in building clear and concise dashboards for business users, and managing permission settings
- Experience in a high-volume transaction, multi-country/brand organization, and integrating many different and complex data sources will be highly regarded
- Deep expertise in SQL, with the ability to optimize queries to reduce run-time and data processing costs
- Ability to plan and project manage the integration of new data sources, including discovery, development, and testing
- Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills both internally and externally
- High energy, intellectually curious, strong work ethic, and strong integrity. A great team player
