Job Description:
- Oversee the workshop operations and ensure compliance with industry or manufacturers’ service and repair quality and standards
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Manpower workplace safety and health standards
- Ensure motor vehicle service staff comply with environmental laws and regulations
- Oversee the disposal of wastes such as used engine oil, and soot to ensure adherence to health and safety laws
- Assign and schedule work duties to motor vehicle service staff according to their skills
- Oversee the inspection of motor vehicles to identify faulty components and facilitate the process of repairs
- Assist technicians in the diagnostic of motor vehicle problems, offer solutions and advice
- Supervise the activities of motor vehicle service technicians and mechanics to facilitate efficient job performance and timely repairs
- Oversee the operations of the various diagnostic machines
- Conduct test drives of serviced or repaired motor vehicles to monitor quality standards
- Ensure that Customer Service Advisors contact customers and arrange for the customers to bring their motor vehicles for servicing or repairs
- Conduct price negotiations with clients to reach a favourable bargain for both management and client
- Follow up with customers to obtain feedback and ensure they are satisfied with the service standards
- Listen to client complaints and assist in addressing their issues and resolving challenges
- Evaluate the performance of motor vehicle service staff to acknowledge efficient employees and guide underperforming ones
- Oversee the hiring and training of an effective motor vehicle service team
- Maintain an accurate record of all accounts and relevant financial information
- Monitor inventory to regulate and ensure the availability of required vehicle parts
- Oversee the procurement of vehicle parts, automotive equipment, and various other items required in the workshop
- Review and manage operating performance such as job orders, revenues, gross profit, operating costs, and operating profits regularly
- Attend technical workshops and study relevant publications to stay up-to-date with developments in the automotive service industry
The Requirements:
- Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering or its equivalent
- At least four (4) years in the operating environment preferably from the automotive industry
- Applicants with NITEC in Automotive Technology and 10 years of relevant experience will also be considered
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Hand-on experience in diagnosing and resolving motor vehicle issues
- Ability to handle various types of workshop tools
- Highly self-motivated with good business acumen
- Able to lead by example, analytical, and innovative
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive, independent, and able to work under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office
