Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow under the Chronic Illness and Long-term Care Research Programme in the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (ALCNS), National University of Singapore. The vision of ALCNS is Inspiring Health for All and our mission is to nurture nurses to advocate health for all through pursuing excellence in nursing education, developing innovative researchers, and serving with compassion and humility. Appointments will be made on a 1-2 years contract basis, with the possibility of an extension.
Purpose of the post
The Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Programme Chair and Core team members to engage in thorough research, generate impactful papers for publication in top-tier academic journals; and successfully obtain competitive funding for the research programme.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Fellow will be able to:
- conduct independent and collaborative research in the field of chronic illness, under the supervision of senior faculty mentors;
- develop and implement research projects, including study design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation;
- publish research findings in high impact peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences and seminars;
- contribute to the development of grant proposals to secure funding for research projects;
- assist in the supervision and mentorship of honor and graduate students involved in research activities;
- contribute to the dissemination of research findings to the broader community through outreach activities, including public lectures or community engagement initiatives;
- participate in departmental meetings, research seminars, and other academic activities to contribute to the scholarly environment of ALCNS.
Qualifications
The applicant should have:
- a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution;
- a strong background and expertise in nursing research, with main focus on chronic diseases (e.g. coronary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, etc.);
- a track record of scholarly productivity, including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals;
- experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies;
- ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- prior experience in grant writing (securing external funding is an advantage).
