Job Description
Reporting to the Country Manager, the Senior Consultant (Biodiversity) main responsibility will be to deliver and manage predominantly biodiversity driven projects including inputs into Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Biodiversity Off-Set Programmes, Environmental Monitoring and Management Planning (EMMP), Sustainability and Advisory projects locally in Singapore and across Southeast Asia.
Job Responsibilities
· In collaboration with the Enterprise team, design and implement terrestrial, aquatic and marine biodiversity baseline surveys to meet regulatory requirements and international best practice as defined by local regulations such as the Biodiversity Impact Assessment, and international frameworks like the International Finance Corporations (IFC) Performance Standards (PS);
· Analyse and interpret baseline data in the context of conducting various studies such as scoping studies, ESIA, critical habitat assessments and development of implementing documents such as offset management strategy and biodiversity action plan;
· Provide general support in undertaking activities such as environmental and social impact assessments such as ESIA, EIA, AMDAL, EMMP, Pollution Control Study, Site specific impact assessment, environmental and social due diligence, sustainability, report writing and monitoring field works for Indonesia, Singapore and International Projects;
· Oversee other site baseline data collection and stakeholder engagement works as may be required from time-to-time, including noise and vibration monitoring, surface water sampling, air quality sampling, ecosystem services and socio-economic studies;
· Project management and liaison with client, project team and government authorities;
· Providing technical and regulatory support for ESC country-based teams across Asia, including supporting management on other projects on an as needs basis;
· Provide support to the Country Manager and other senior staff as needed in reviewing and refining reports, with a focus on ensuring that reports are appropriately formatted, structured and that use of English Language is robust;
· Supporting the ESC Operations Manager and Country Manager to build upon the existing regional business and cross sell other ESC technical disciplines to clients.
Job Requirements
- Significant experience in an international environmental and sustainability consulting environment, with a minimum of 5 years experience in the environmental and consultancy space, and demonstrated skills in EIA and/or other technical environmental and sustainability consulting projects.
- Strong analytical, planning and project management skills.
- Ability to deal with complex & sensitive issues
- Excellent reporting, communication and problem-solving skills
- Significant experience in regional projects across a range of industrial sectors including renewable energy, data center, mining, Oil and Gas, chemical and petrochemical sectors would be advantageous, as would a demonstrated track record in growing business and managing a group of professionals.
- Tertiary qualifications, minimum BEng/BSc –Biology or Ecology or Environmental Management. Master in Biology, Environmental Science, or related fields are advantageous
