We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of VC Investor Coverage - Commercial Banking.
Principal Responsibilities
HSBC seeks to be the Leading New Economy Bank across South and South-East Asia, with a clear strategy to deepen relationships with fast growth companies and increase coverage of early-stage investors.
To support this strategy, we seek an exceptional individual to help drive our coverage of Priority VC Investors in Singapore and South-East Asia. This role will act as a central point of contact for VC firms, helping to bring more of HSBC to the investors and their portfolio companies. This role will also involve coordinating with colleagues around the Group, including our Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) team, internal equity investors from HSBC Ventures and Asset Management, Innovation Lending / Venture Debt colleagues, Portfolio Coverage bankers, as well as Global Payments & Solutions and Global Markets.
- Drive incremental New Economy opportunities, referrals, and revenues for HSBC via pro-active origination through network of early-stage investors and start-up eco-system partners
- Support deployment of Innovation Lending capabilities (incl. Venture Debt) by building high-quality and mutually beneficial relationships with priority investors
- Generate fund-banking and capital call opportunities for the NBFI teams through close collaboration.
- Design and deliver impactful investor focused events and explore formal partnership opportunities with early-stage investors
- Continually evolve and strengthen HSBC’s end-to-end proposition for early-stage investors and their portfolio companies
- Provide meaningful insight into fundraising and capital deployment by priority investors, and proactively share market trends across the wider New Economy business
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar capacity
- Experience working within Corporate Finance, M&A, Venture Debt or Growth Lending, Venture Capital or Structured & Leverage Finance.
- Experience of working with founders or early-stage investors would be highly valued – as would a strong existing network of contacts across Singapore and South-East Asi
- High level of interpersonal, writing, technical and financial modelling skills. Ability to work well with diverse teams, and deal with multiple internal & external stakeholders
- Self-starter with a proven ability to lead and manage multiple priorities, and to work independently
- Appetite to build something new and innovative and be part of a new strategic priority for the bank in South & South-East Asia
